Public support for the arts & culture in Massachusetts starts at the State House.
Each year, the Legislature gives funding to some 330 state agencies. Mass Cultural Council is one of those agencies.
As the state arts agency, Mass Cultural Council then invests this funding into programs and initiatives that provide thousands of grants to individuals, organizations, and Local Cultural Councils.
The state’s Local Cultural Councils – representing all 351 cities and towns – then take their Mass Cultural Council funds and regrant them into more than 7,500 community-based arts & cultural projects across the Commonwealth.
