Elephant Calf Reunion
An abandoned Elephant Calf was reported from Sullia, DK. We tracked the herd and went into the forest with two department staff members.
Our task was tough as we were on foot in the dense forest with difficult terrain, and had to walk with the baby elephant.
It was also tough because the herd kept moving away because of our presence and calf also got imprinted to us and started following us back even after leaving near the herd
Somehow by evening time after waking for almost 6-7 kilometres we traced the herd again and left the calf very close. We couldnt stay back as they didn't come close to calf in our presence
After returning the next day again the department staff searched the nearby area and found the herd walking around. So hopefully the calf is reunited. We are checking the camera trap data for the updates. But it was a worth effort instead of taking the calf to an elephant camp
