Third logo of the independent film production company, Carolco Pictures. Carolco was founded (as Anabasis Investments) in 1976 by film investors, Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna. The name Carolco was purchased from a defunct company based in Panama. Carolco's first major success was First Blood (1982) and had also financial success after releasing the two Rambo films and blockbusters T2 (1991), Total Recall (1990) and Basic Instinct (1992). The company went bankrupt in 1995 because of overspending on their films and the big budget release of Cutthroat Island. In 1998, Kassar and Vajna reinstated their partnership and founded C2 Pictures, which shut down in 2008. Since 2017 Carolco's library including the Carolco logo controlled by StudioCanal.
This is the open matte version of Carolco logo, in which there is MORE picture (which is hidden in the 1.85:1 widescreen aspect version) on top and bottom and a loss of picture from side to side.
