Mucugê - Historic city of Chapada Diamantina.
The Cities and Cultures program visited the historic city of Mucugê, located in the beautiful Chapada Diamantina region of the state of Bahia.
In the lands that now belong to the Municipality of Mucugê, the first diamond was discovered, giving its name and making the entire Chapada Diamantina region famous.
The diamond is gone, although there are rumors that many precious stones can still be found there.
But currently, the wealth that is easily perceived in Mucugê lies in the beautiful mansions and the natural exuberance of the place, which make this city a true gem of Brazilian tourism, generating income for residents and immense joy and satisfaction for all who visit it.
Mucugê has many tourist attractions, such as the Tiburtino Waterfall, the Piaba Waterfall, the Paraguaçu River, the Sempre-Viva Park, the Serra do Sincorá, the Vale do Pati, the Byzantine Cemetery, and the city center itself, which is charming and very well preserved. It also has many cultural attractions such as the São João festival, the Forró Festival, the Literary Fair, the Three Kings festival, museums, and exceptional gastronomy with various typical dishes.
