Lava Planet
Astronomers have just discovered a planet made entirely of lava. The extreme Earth-like planet has lava oceans as it roasts near its star in the Big Dipper constellation. It takes only 4 days to revolve around its star – by comparison our solar systems closets planet of Mercury takes 88 days. The lava Earth is 500 million years old – young by planetary standards – and could offer clues to Earth’s own development.
