In 2016, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, teamed up with Girl Effect to motivate girls to get the HPV vaccine and test how to create sustainable demand for immunisation.
Through Girl Effect's TV and radio dramas, talk shows, magazines, digital platforms and clubs, girls learn about cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine, to help them take charge of their own health.
As a result of the partnership, girls in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Malawi have greater knowledge about cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine. By building trust in the vaccine, girls are motivated to receive it which drives uptake.
Every positive health choice an adolescent girl makes takes us one step closer to protecting the next generation.
