New start-ups launch in Silicon Valley every year and the region is home to some of the world’s most valuable companies including Apple, Alphabet, Tesla, Facebook, and Uber. Silicon Valley and the Bay Area began as a hub for radio and communications technology. In the 1930s, HP ushered in a new age and historians consider the HP Garage to be the birthplace of Silicon Valley.
