This is my favorite part of Solo Show work.
1. POV
Finding a specific character idea and point of view to create unique, easily identifiable cast of chracters
2. The Psychological Gesture
This comes from the depth of the writing and a clear understanding of the characters’ psychology. Their greatest fears and desires as well as the strategies they use to get what they want.
3. The Laban Method
Assigning a specific physical action (Float, Kick, Wring, etc) to the text. The benefits are myriad.
• It allows the actor to slow down the text so that the audience has time to enter the story
• It forces the actor to drop down into the diaphragm & use breath more effectively and stay off of the vocal chords
• With more breath comes the ability to use the lifted inflection so that each character keeps the ball in the air throughout a performance
I love teaching the 3 techniques for Solo Show creation. Especially for those solo performers who are serious about doing the work. My classes are structured with accountabilty and step-by-step guidance. You will finish your first draft in my class.
I’m doing a one-time only LIVE Solo Show class on March 15th for only $37.99.
Can’t make that time? We’ll send you the recording.
