we spent 2 nights camping on a ledge in the Catskill Mountains riding out a winter storm that gave us a little bit of everything Mother Nature has for winter in NY. Below freezing temperatures, snow, hail, rain, sleet, and ice, combined with fierce winds consistently 40- 50 mph throughout the evenings and nights battering out tent.. it was a full-out winter experience that I am always waiting and searching for. With the proper gear and experience, these were ideal conditions to hike in at night and make camp just before the weather turned nasty, and then relax and enjoy the show for the next 2 days. luckily the sun popped out for about 2 hours and we were able to catch some of the Catskill Mountains spectacular views before another ferocious wind storm rolled thru.
