Telegram & the Deepfake Issue

The recent news of Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s arrest in France swept world news outlets with updates continuing to come out. Durov is facing a litany of criminal offenses with a highlight on enabling illicit transactions and complicity in the distribution of child sexual abuse material. South Korea is also having to face the issue of deepfake sex crimes being distributed through Telegram, with the government taking emergency measures. The arrest of a suspect accused of creating and distributing 279 deepfake porn videos has brought shock and horror to the community. So, what can be and is being done to prevent further damage?
