Angels Landing Will Give You Vertigo
Joshua Forester experiences a bucket list item with a group of friends by hiking/climbing to the top of Zion National Park's Angels Landing.
Angels Landing is a monolith in Zion Valley that rises 5785 feet above sea level. The trail to the top includes a section called Walter's Wiggles, which consists of 21 very tight switchbacks, as well as many sections of trail along The Spine that are only a few feet wide and bordered by vertigo-inducing sheer drop-offs of up to 1000 feet in height.
The fear of heights is very real here; most turn around after Scout's Lookout instead of carrying on to the summit and bagging the 3000 feet of ascent/descent along the full five-mile round trip trail.
