Repair of the caliper on the UAZ Patriot automatic transmission.
The brake caliper on my 2021 UAZ Patriot with automatic transmission seized up. We repair it - we disassemble, develop, and troubleshoot.
Like in the movie - on December 31st, my friends and I... I went to the garage alone because the left brake disc had gotten hot and was steaming at the car wash. The UAZ owners told me what to do. The issue wasn't the wheel bearing or the caliper guide - the lower piston of the left caliper had seized up. Previously, this had caused occasional vibrations when braking and the car pulling to the left. I removed the brake pads and caliper, sprayed WD-40 and added brake fluid, and eventually unsealed the piston. I pressed the brakes as far as I could, then used a tire iron to push them back in. I tried 5-6 times like this, and the brakes were temporarily functional! I also tested the standard screw jack, which is installed under the axle shaft. Overall, it works perfectly—the car is up in 5 minutes. The jack's advantage is that you don't have to adjust the suspension travel to lift the wheel—superb.
