Let's start with delicately cleaning the walnut surface using a brush sander to rid it of dust and dirt before further processing. Flattening the slab is done using router sleds from the TOT company — a reliable machine that, in my opinion, deserves recommendations. The idea isn't mine — I was inspired by a video on TikTok where a craftsman, using a similar tool, created one scale in a single pass.
