Beyond PMP - Program & Portfolio Management
This video describes two advanced project management certifications: Program Management Professional (PgMP) and Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP). As project management takes center stage in much of the world of business and strategy implementation, it is becoming evident that utilizing project management itself is insufficient to deliver superior results. Organizations undertaking large and complex initiatives should consider program management to enhance the integrated management of these initiatives. Even better, organizations with limited resources can leverage the power of portfolio management to make better investment decisions and to implement stronger governance framework.
PgMP and PfMP are especially important for certified PMPs for at least two reasons: 1) With over 1 million PMPs, the need to differentiate and standout is paramount; 2) PgMP and PfMP are logical next steps in the career growth of professional project managers.
For those "accidental" project managers who are now managing large teams and playing executives roles but have not had the time for PMP, why pursue the PMP. The certification provides little advantages. To increase your competitiveness, it makes more sense to pursue PgMP and PfMP.
