User Research within the public sector - moving the mountain
Government programmes of work are often complex groups of interconnected projects and systems. This technical complexity makes user research vitally important across government programmes, to ensure technical constraints don’t solely direct the system design.
By embedding UX into the process and adhering to standards, we make sure the systems are usable and accessible by all.
During this talk, Annaliese will discuss the Government Digital Service (GDS) standards most relevant to user research. Her experience of how user research is embedded into project teams within the public sector and, the importance of self-care when working in UX specifically within the public domain.
About Annaliese:
Annaliese is a lead user researcher with a strong track record of helping organisations design user-centred products through user research and, the application of psychological principles to digital services.
Having worked within the Public Sector for the past 2 years, Annaliese has a wealth of experience in working to the Government Digital Service standards. Her public sector roles have included; senior user researcher at the Ministry of Justice, lead user researcher and internal assessor at HMRC.
