Paramount Pictures Corporation is the oldest running film studio in Hollywood and the fifth oldest in the world. Paramount was founded in 1912 as Famous Players Film Company by the Hungarian-born Adolph Zukor. In 1914 it was renamed to Paramount Pictures, in 1966 Paramount was acquired by Gulf+Western Industries and since 1994 is a subsidiary of the media conglomerate Viacom. Paramount's studios and headquarters are based in Hollywood, California.
Each of the 22 stars in the logo, symbolize the actors and actresses who were under contract in the early years of the company (1916).
