Resources for Multilingual Learners and Families offered during Academic Symposium [July 2024]
The English Learners Family Academic Symposium (ELFAS) was held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Elbert Edwin Waddell High School. This is the second year for this event, coordinated by CMS Learning & Language Acquisition department. The event originated from the cultural celebration that CMS held for years previously.
In its more recent iterations, this event has grown to include more engagement and resources for the families of multilingual learners. There were sessions for parents to prepare them for the school year and make them aware of various opportunities and programs that would benefit their children. Alongside of that were many of our community engagement partners there to offer their resources and support. The event included school supply giveaways and ended with the celebration of varied cultural dances and a parade of flags.
