I won't mess with you, I'm a firm believer that any pen can be great for doodling, that's the beauty of this form of art, it has no requirements. However there is something satisfying about the way fountain pens put down ink. Plus, a lot of these have flexible nibs so you can press a little harder and affect the line weight, which some people enjoy. There's also the whole "collecting" angle of the hobby which sucks a lot of people in (me included).
