The moving documentary "The Vision of Claudia Andujar" encompasses the life and work of the renowned photographer, humanist, and activist Claudia Andujar. Since the 1950s, she has been passionately committed to the rights and protection of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. With award-winning photographs and a lifelong dedication, she fights against the brutal practices of gold miners, militias, logging companies, cattle ranchers, and their exploitative practices. Heidi Specogna's film delves into Andujar's life story, which is also marked by her escape from the Holocaust and ultimately led her to her new home in Brazil. The film crew visits the Amazon region, which is more threatened today than ever before, and meets the Yanomami people who live there, whose protection Claudia Andujar has dedicated her life to. There, we meet a young generation of indigenous people who use their own films to inform the public about the acute threat to their habitat: Their reports document the devastating effects of slash-and-burn agriculture, looting, and environmental destruction in the Amazon – while simultaneously capturing the rich traditions and unique habitat of their people.
