Taleb Alisalem was born in 1992 in the Sahrawi refugee camps, an environment that left an indelible mark on his life and career. His training has focused on cooperation and development aid, areas in which he has emerged as one of the most respected figures among the Sahrawi people. Today, he is a renowned speaker and a regular analyst in global media outlets.
In 2023, the United Nations invited him to participate in a session on decolonization, in recognition of his commitment. His deep knowledge and dedication to the Sahrawi cause have made him an authority on issues related to Western Sahara, Africa, and the Middle East. Additionally, in 2022 and 2023, the UPES (Union of Sahrawi Journalists, Writers, and Intellectuals) awarded him the "Internationalization of the Sahrawi Cause" award for his work.

The history of Western Sahara is that of a territory once under Spanish sovereignty that became disputed after Spain's withdrawal in 1975, when Morocco and Mauritania divided it up following the "Green March."
The Polisario Front, which seeks independence and decolonization, engaged in military confrontation with these countries until 1991, when a ceasefire was agreed upon and the UN promised a self-determination referendum that was never held. The UN continues to consider Western Sahara a non-self-governing territory, and the conflict persists due to the divergent positions of Morocco and the Polisario Front on its future, and due to Spain's dereliction of duty and subservience to Morocco and the support of major powers for it.
