The accuracy with which we can observe our environment with satellites, depends primarily on the different characteristics of their sensors. After all, it is the sensors properties which control how detailed the information about the Earth’s surface can be.
One of these properties is the spectral resolution. It provides information about the ability of a sensor to distinguish between the ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum
The spectral resolution of a sensor increases with the number of channels in which it can receive ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) in Germany is a joint project of ESA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). ESERO aims to get pupils interested in STEM subjects. To this end, space topics are integrated into school lessons in an exciting and innovative way and pupils' skills in the subjects of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology (STEM subjects) are promoted.
