In this third episode, we host a fireside chat with the Director of Research at Chainalysis, Kim Grauer. She talks about how she got into crypto, the potential political and socio-economic impact of cryptocurrencies, the history of the company's reports and predictions for the future. Head of Sanctions Strategy, Andrew Fierman, discusses the impact of blockchain analytics on sanctions compliance, reactions to recent sanctions designations, transparency in crypto KYC versus traditional finance, FinCEN 9714 (311) with the challenge of crypto's inability to block incoming transactions and some work-arounds for the industry, and actually being able to measure the impact of sanctions designations.
Clark Flynt-Barr covers the US monthly policy recent events, including the takedown of the Hive ransomware group and sanctions against individuals associated with the Trickbot malware. Additionally, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City denied Custodian Bank's request to become a member of the Federal Reserve System, citing significant safety and soundness risks, and the White House released a roadmap to mitigate cryptocurrencies' risks, expressing skepticism about cryptocurrency and calling for more regulations and enforcement actions. The SEC also settled charges with Kraken for failing to register the offer and sale of their crypto asset staking program. The Senate Banking Committee held a hearing called "Crypto Crash: Why Financial System Safeguards are needed for Digital Assets."
For each KYCC episode, we’ll have a fresh mix of essential information for the compliance, policy, and enforcement community about developments world-wide in crypto.
