"Padded Cell" is the fourth song from Seal's ninth studio album, "7".
In a promotional concert for the album, Seal described having been a judge on The Voice, and publicly discussing depression with one of the contestants, which then blew up on social media over the following days.
This inspired him to write the song about living with and managing it.
