Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan delivers a spirited rendition of a composition in Raga Hansadhwani that Ustad Rais Khan created after being inspired by the chimes of Big Ben in London, UK. The sitar virtuoso exploits the spaces within the composition to insert his improvisations.
Hamsadhwani (meaning "the cry of the swan") also spelled as Hansadhwani, is a rāga in Carnatic music (musical scale of Carnatic tradition of Indian classical music). Hamsadhvani is also extensively used in Hindustani music, it was created by the Carnatic composer Ramaswami Dikshitar (1735–1817), father of Muthuswami Dikshitar (one of the musical trinity of Carnatic music), and brought into Hindustani music by Aman Ali Khan of the Bhendibazaar Gharana.
