The original Silk Road was an ancient trade network that ran across Asia, connecting China, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. For centuries, the long and arduous served as a means of trade and cultural interaction.
China is now planning on fully reviving this old trade route and bringing to the 21st century, through its controversial “one road, one belt” initiative.
Some have argued that this development is being done to further fulfil China’s geopolitical ambitions, Where China wants to use its economic power to further exert its political influence on neighbouring countries.
