So my Grandad died last week, and I was feeling very distraught and guilty about not being able to attend the funeral. Living abroad can be tough at times like these. My grandad wasn't just my grandad, he was essentially a father to me. And although I'd already accepted some years ago that my essentially-father was inevitably going to die during my young-adulthood, it was still a huge blow to take. You can never really fully prepare for these things.
I decided that, even not making the funeral, I could still commemorate and celebrate him in my own way — through songwriting. In this way a piece of him will always live on with me and with the universe.
