NLAW: British Anti-Tank Missile Used to Destroy Russian Tank in Ukraine
NLAW, developed by Sweden’s Saab, weighs 27 pounds and has a combat range of 65 to 2,600 feet. Saab claims NLAW can “defeat any modern main battle tank.”
Instead of attacking a tank head-on, NLAW flies above a tank and then detonates a shaped charge down through a tank’s thin roof armor. Once fired, the NLAW launch tube is discarded.
The NLAW has a ‘Predicted Line of Sight’ guidance system in which the operator tracks a moving target vehicle in the launcher’s 2.5x magnification sight for 3-5 seconds before firing.
