Whilst our Bolt Camera Motion Control robot provides rock solid camera tracking data for Virtual Production, here at Robotface we’ve been keen to try out VIVE Tracking as an alternative off-the-shelf option for camera tracking.

Whilst the results were just satisfactory (for shots with talent on a green screen), we still had issues with controlling lag and VIVE locking our green screen keys into the virtual world. In fairness however, this environment is very GPU intensive.

When the green screen key was not required however, the VIVE tracking option proved a great Virtual Production tool to explore real-time camera angles around a Virtual Environment - in this case a beautifully assembled desert gas station environment.

Environment created by Joakim Stigsson.

Coding and blueprints by Ahren Morris and special thanks to Clayton Jacobson for fleshing out this testing and real-time rendering on his insane GPU hardware.
