Any quest to trace the origins of magic leads back to Magic and Demonology in Ancient Egypt. While demons & magic have certainly shapeshifted over the years, Magic and Demonology in Ancient Egypt offered sophisticated instructions for evading, placating & exorcizing demons that would influence future generations. Magic and Demonology in Ancient Egypt was founded on belief that demons are neither inherently good nor evil, but have the capacity for both helping & harming, depending on the orders they receive from the Ancient Egyptian gods & goddesses who dispatch them. To repel & reign in demons, Ancient Egyptian magic & amuletic texts such as the Book of the Dead, the Coffin Texts, & the Oracular Amuletic Decrees instruct us in identifying, locating, avoiding & befriending demons. Since the Ancient Egyptians believed that demons were responsible for most of the misfortunes & mishaps they experienced, including physical ailments & psychological torments, priests received intensive training in how to identify a case of the demons when they saw one & deal with said demons. Priests/priestesses were also central in performing Magic and Demonology in Ancient Egypt, since the Underworld was notorious for being populated by literal boatloads of guardian demons whom the dead must curry favor with or cast spells over in traversing the Underworldโ€™s treacherous terrain & gaining entry to the exclusive Field of Reeds/Rushes, where their body, Ka, Ba & Akh are reunited for a blissful, disease-free Afterlife. Aside from performing healing, protective magic & exorcism rites on ancient Egyptians, priests had the ponderous responsibility of preparing dying souls for their journey through the Underworld & gearing them up for successful transactions with the myriads of demons they would encounter along the way (a narrative trope that set the mould for quest lit). This soft-spoken lofi ASMR History roleplay is heavy on talking/lecturing. Though more boring than Letโ€™s Find Out & less suavely soporific than the French Whisperer, this RP is inspired by that ASMR genre of relaxing edutainment. If nothing else, may the final protection spell guide you to a magical, good-demons-only dreamscape!

MATURE SUBJECT WARNING: discussion of demonology & violence in Ancient Egyptian mythology. Writing on stone with a stone & paper sounds.

This ASMR RP is best consumed with a side of a sense of humor & is intended to feel like a lecture/practicum/tutorial delivered at the Karnak Temple School of Theology in Luxor c. the New Kingdom. The mentor priestess points to the wrong part of the scroll at times (& holds scrolls upside down), but only has your spiritual development at heart. The magical & amuletic texts (The Book of the Dead, The Coffin Texts, etc.) are rife with images of Guardian demons, yet images of Wanderer demons (the ones who vex humans) are scarce. Butโ€ฆyouโ€™ll definitely know one when you see one!

Mistakes: Silly pronunciations (โ€œwrtโ€ & โ€œ smAjwโ€) since I couldn't find any pronunciation guides for these words. Also, wrong gender pronouns used for Ammut/Ammit.
