What is AI Tinkerers?
AI Tinkerers is a meetup designed exclusively for practitioners who possess technical, machine learning, and entrepreneurial backgrounds and are actively building and working with foundation models, such as large language models (LLMs) and generative AI. If you’re deeply passionate about creating LLM-enabled applications, have hands-on experience in building such systems, and are eager to connect with like-minded individuals who share your level of commitment, then this group is the perfect fit for you. With AI Tinkerers meetups taking place in multiple cities, we cater to a dedicated community of practitioners.
Who is Organizing?
AI Tinkerers Toronto is organized by the Human Feedback Foundation. We’re a Linux Foundation AI & Data nonprofit on a mission to build human feedback data into open source AI, promote relevant research into open RLHF, and steer the future of AI into a more human-centric and open direction.

Human Feedback Foundation:
There’s a race for human feedback. The nature of technology and tech products has changed. With AI as a new paradigm, for the first time in the history of technology, human feedback has emerged as an essential and necessary element of the AI tech stack. Human feedback makes AI more capable, accurate, ethical, and valuable and helps align models with human values and reflect the diversity of knowledge and culture. It is also expensive and inaccessible for many open source projects. But useful AI is often impossible without it.
We’re a Linux Foundation AI & Data nonprofit. Our core working group consists of people from AI and machine learning, anthropology, linguistics, arts, policy, marketing, and more.
Human Feedback Foundation seeks to:
1. Enable public input into AI through supporting open-source development and policy initiatives that adopt human feedback data, tools, and decision making, with a special focus on AI governance, alignment and deliberative democratic processes.
2. Build, promote, and curate cutting-edge AI projects, tooling, human input datasets and feedback across the model training and development stack, with focus on interoperability and open source AI.
3. Educate newcomers to the ML field, and larger business, policy, and public institutions on the advancements in cutting-edge AI safety research and open science, making AI more accessible to all.
