FULL SPEECH: A Sliver Of Hope
On May 2, 2024, The @sidiio team gathered in Ottawa to host & celebrate our clients at an event entitled Cheers & Chats: A Toast To Our Clients & Community.
It was an opportunity after being in business for 8 years for me to thank the 50+ businesses in attendance for supporting Sidi.io.
I had the chance to thank the team, my family, my coaches and mentors, and members of the Ottawa business community.
It was also an opportunity to share a story about my own dark past and how a series of decisions I made led to me being almost homeless.
I opened up because it is important that we recognize the homeless crisis we are experiencing in Ottawa and across Canada is closer to us than we may believe.
I was fortunate to be given a sliver of hope by having a safety net to prevent becoming homeless - but many others are not so lucky.
This speech is my call to action for us to do more and be more to restore our downtown and to make Ottawa a thriving, vibrant capital city once again, where people feel safe and secure to live, work, and play.
