Crank up your volume during the opening harp solo and leave it there... if you dare!!
This video does not truly represent the full quality of a Type II High Bias cassette with Dolby S NR and HX Pro -- not only does YouTube add their lossy audio compression, furthermore the noise floor of my computer's sound card's line input is actually higher than that of the cassette recording! I kept my recording level conservative because I found that if the audio ventures into the "red zone", it just compresses the peaks. Plus, Dolby S makes the tape so quiet that there's no benefit to maxing out the recording level, anyway.
This was the lowest-end model in Sony's lineup of Dolby S cassette decks, with just a single, non-auto-reverse tape mechanism. There is a tiny bit of wow and flutter due to a squealing pinch roller. But for $14.99 at the thrift store, I can't complain!
