How to make an Auld Fashioned
While doing my weekly Costco run I came across this Glenlivet set which came with a stirrer and bottle of bitters. Glenlivet is my favorite alcohol to drink on the rocks and recently tried my first Old Fashioned. My first Old Fashioned I had was last year at The State in Redlands. The owner's father highly recommended it so I had to try it and it was so good. I actually made a video of the drink being made you can watch that at this link, • How to Make an Old Fashioned
Of course the one I make above is no where near as good as theirs but good enough to enjoy on a lazy Sunday or something to reward myself after a long day of work. The recipe that came with the bottle suggests a sugar cube...I can't remember the last time or if I've ever purchase sugar cubes. Also I don't keep real sugar in my house so I use Truvia which is a sugar substitute also available at Costco but i get on Amazon. Auld Fashioned
Ingredients
3 parts Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
3 Dashes of bitters
1 tsp water
1 sugar cube
Method
in a rocks glass, muddle the bitters and water into the sugar cube with a teaspoon or wooden muddler. Fill with ice cubes and add The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve. Garnish with an Orange peel and maraschino cherry.
I use Truvia instead of a sugar cube. You can purchase a big box at Amazon at this link
