EFAT (engine failure after take-off) is probably the worst kind of engine failure as there is very little time for reaction. I’ve been looking forward to this practice quite some time but I believe it requires being well-proficient if doing this without an instructor.

The lowest altitude AGL I managed to get back to the airfield was 500ft. If engine fails while gear and flaps are still extended, there is basically no chance to get back. Perhaps it might be a better idea to retract everything sooner in favour of better climb after take-off. Skyleader flaps work as airbrakes, even in the take-off position. The gliding with take-off flaps is MUCH worse and with full flaps… and a bit of a slip, the aircraft gets into crazy descent angles! This is actually a good feature since you can land from almost any position in relation to the runway, but if you have no power, it is better to be as high as possible for as long as possible.
