The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G has a 108 megapixel main camera, the S22 Ultra does as well—can the Note 11 Pro camera beat the Samsung S22? Let’s find out in this Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G vs S22 Ultra Camera Test!

The short answer I found, through this Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G camera test, is that sometimes the Redmi Note 11 actually can beat the S22 Ultra! Admittedly, the Samsung is certainly the better device, in fact, it might be the best flagship android phone of the year, and it will usually take a better shot than the Redmi Note 11 . . . but not always.

I test 3 ways to help the Redmi Note 11 Pro take the best shots it can and compare those with the photos from the S22 Ultra. And I compare photos using each of the methods/apps. First, you must find a good GCam port! You can see the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G GCam vs stock performance for every image. The port I tested with for the comparison is from developer Tigr and you can find it here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/an...

The second method I tested was shooting with Xiaomi’s 108 megapixel mode. It was generally disappointing, since pixel binning from this high megapixel sensor actually produces a better brighter image. But in this Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G test you can see that it can add some sharpness and detail that outperforms the S22 Ultra in one of the samples.
The last method was to shoot in RAW DNG using the stock Xiaomi camera app. It’s important to note that you will need to edit any RAW DNG files in order for them to actually look better than a typical image from the stock cam. This is a powerful tool that I’m glad Xiaomi included on the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus, and this is the best method to use if you are trying to match the typical contrast and saturation that Samsung photos are known for. Just keep in mind that if you are very under or over exposed, even shooting RAW won’t be able to save the image.

For this Redmi Note 11 Pro camera test I also recorded some video samples using the stock Xiaomi camera, GCam, and Filmic Pro on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11. While I prefer the footage from the S22 Ultra in every case, the difference is not huge between the two devices—especially when using Filmic Pro on the Note 11 Pro. Of course, the Redmi Note 11 Pro + with it’s Dimensity 920 processor, can’t handle demanding video tasks like 8K recording, higher frame rates, or even 4K video from the selfie camera.
