Saint Katharine Drexel was taught the importance of charity from a young age. Born into wealth, she used her inheritance to support missions in Native American and African American communities, eventually establishing the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. Saint Katharine is the patron saint of racial justice and philanthropists, and her feast day is March 3.

“CRS Saint of the Month” is a new series that explores the lives of saints who inspire us at Catholic Relief Services in our humanitarian and development work.

Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. For more than 80 years, CRS has provided assistance and poverty relief to people in need around the world. We serve communities in more than 120 countries through programs in emergency response, health, education, livelihoods and more.
