Country Music And Your Creative Style
I spent years trying to change my creative style.
Turns out, I already had one.
Everyone has a style. You just have to discover it.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say that your style should be like country music.
I promise that will make sense.
As a creative we aim to develop our own voice, our own style and look. We want people to know our work is our work without our name attached to it. Some people work a lifetime for this while other's naturally fall into it.
I'm somewhere in between. Finding my style as a filmmaker required me to watch through the hours of home movies my friends and I filmed when we were kids and compare it to the work I do now. What I learned is that I always had a style, I just fought it and tried to develop a different style.
While you may never see or know my work, what I am proud of is that I have a style... It just took me over 20 years to fully embrace it.
