I visited Semporna on the far east coast of Malaysian Borneo. This place has a reputation for being the Malaysian Maldives. We headed out on a boat to an island called Mabul. The water is an amazing turquoise colour and there is a resort in the shallows which people visit to take photos.
Not far from the resort, on the island proper live some of the locals in a makeshift village. Lot's of kids were playing by the water with homemade boats.
After leaving Mabul we went to the shallows near an island called Kapalai to snorkel.
In the evening I went to a seafood restaurant only to find they were all our of seafood. The owner of the shop called a taxi and we went shopping at the seafood market around closing time(apparently the best time to bargain).
