Google Translate's auto-detect feature states the text of the piece is Galician instead of Portuguese. This piqued my curiosity and after reading up, it seems that both languages were closely related until the later part of the 1500s. I hope to sing this again on a renaissance guitar to experience the work with closer historical proximity.
