“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” —Theodor Seuss
It's crazy how fast 2019 flew by. Going into the year, we didn't really set any plans, but so much ended up happening! Although the start of the year was pretty quiet, things definitely picked up once Spring started. We spent a lot on the road this year, travelling as a family. One of the major highlights of the year was travelling to Japan. We saw a few cities, Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo, and spent a few days at Tokyo Disneyland. It was definitely one of those bucket list trips for us, and we had such a good time. Taking the bullet train (Shinkansen) allowed us to travel pretty quickly between the cities. The food in Japan was amazing, and I don't think we've ever seen our kids eat so well! The kids loved Nara Park, where they were able to see and feed the wild deer. They also loved the Japanese macaques (Snow Monkeys), although I think they were a bit scared of them. One of the unique things we experienced in Tokyo was the start of the new era. Emperor Akihito had stepped down from his throne , ending the Heisei Era, and his son , Naruhito, began his reign called the Reiwa Era. I happened to be wandering through Shibuya at midnight when the old era ended and the new one began, and it was pretty neat to see the celebrations. We also continued our annual tradition of heading to Walt Disney World during the holiday season. We were lucky enough to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and this year, we were finally able to see the fireworks and dance with the Reindeer and Polar Bears! During our time in Orlando, we hopped inboard the Disney Fantasy, and headed to the Southern Caribbean on their Merrytime Cruise. We had an absolute blast this year, the weather was great and the kids had so much fun. We were also able to take part in a few adult activities such as some drink tastings and brunch at Palo. During the evenings, while the kids were in the kids club, we took part in decade music trivia. We didn't do so well, until they reached the 90's! It's hard to believe it's already 2020. Happy new year from our family to yours! Here's to more adventures in the new year and decade!
