This is how I setup and start Oculus Quest 2 VR headset in Iracing. The Oculus Quest 2 or Meta Quest 2, is a quite easy to use, but frustrating if not setup properly. This is a Step by step guide on how I set up and use Oculus Quest 2 / Meta Quest 2 VR headset in iracing sim racing. IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you want to use Racelabs overlays please watch this video my other setup video. • Video If you have not done it before, Go to your documents folder on pc. Open Iracing folder. Locate rendererDX11.ini (edit if needed) ensure that:
“RiftEnabled=1”
And
“OpenXrEnabled=1”
You could also change “OpenVrEnabled=1” but OpenVr is usually used for other headset like Reverb G2
Save file be sure it saves as a “.ini” file not a “.txt”
Things to remember when using Quest 2 or 3 with Iracing.
1. Quest Link is a term for both wired and wireless connection from headset to pc.
Air Link allows wireless connection to PC. Air Link is the default connection type. It MUST be turned off if you wish to connect via a cable to the pc. Cable is called a "Link Cable"
2. You must open the Oculus program and have it running on the computer.
You must pair the headset to your computer so it will be recognized. (Pairing is also required if Quest Link has been disabled in the setting and then re-enabled.
3. You must launch Quest Link in either Air Link, or Cable Link mode, before you start an iracing session, and again if the headset has been turned off. Depending on the time between sessions, you may have to re-launch Air Link from one race session/practice session to another, or if headset or Oculus program has stopped working.
If wanting to use a cable / wired mode. You must TURN OFF Air link mode,.
DO NOT start Iracing from within oculus headset or within oculus computer program. Iracing is started on pc, outside of vr.
After starting link mode, you then start iracing on PC. Do not start iracing from within Oculus headset or within Oculus program. Start iracing on your PC as if your not using VR. If you have not set a display default, or enabled the display mode select popup menu, you can also click this icon in iracing user interface top menu. http://jdwinelist.com/iracing-info/DI...
Using Quest in wireless air link mode will drain headset battery quite quickly. You can use external power source eg: an Oculus charger and link cable / or a 5 volt phone charger or similar with link cable. Or an Oculus head strap that includes a battery. Not all USB ports can supply enough power to headset, when connected via a link cable.
