#9 - They Harvest Icebergs
While an iceberg isn’t something you would normally think to harvest, the people of Canada have not only found a way to do it, but it has become an annual tradition. Each spring numerous icebergs float in from Greenland. The ice is harvested to help make things such as wine, beer, vodka, and a variety of skin care products. Who knew?
#8 - They Have Races In Bathtubs
Leave it to the Canadians to host an annual converted bathtub race. The tradition began in 1967 when 200 “tubbers” raced around a 36-mile course; only 48 finished the “track.” Today the contestants’ converted bathtubs cover the track in just 90-minutes.
#7 - The $1 Million Dollar Coin
The Canadian Royal Mint was bored so they thought they would create a massive coin worth $1 million dollars in itself. The coin is made up of 99.99% gold and weighs over 220 pounds. That is one expensively massive coin.
#6 - They Created Peanut Butter
Peanut butter may just be one of the best things on the face of the planet, so big thank you to Canada for that one. In 1884, a Montreal pharmacist named Marcellus Gilmore Edson devised this nutty ointment-like paste to be used as a food option for people having a hard time chewing. Thanks to him, we have a paste that is spread on more than a few pieces of bread in American lunches.
#5 - Most Educated Country In The World
People in Canada are smart, really smart. Not only do over half of Canadians hold college degrees, but the country itself has a 99% literacy rate. The highest in the entire world.
#4 - Flying Bears Don’t Cause Mass Chaos
Canadians take “keeping it cool” to a whole new level. Not only are they unfazed by the fact that a FLYING bear killed two citizens, local law enforcement commented saying that this isn’t an event that is “seen often.” I’ve never even HEARD of a flying bear killing people in real life, let alone seeing it, and seeing it more than once! That’s some crazy stuff.
#3 - They Have Their Own Hollywood
It’s referred to as the Hollywood of the North or simply North Hollywood. The city is second to Los Angeles in television production and third in North America for feature film productions.
#2 - Canada Has A National Park Bigger Than Switzerland
The Wood Buffalo National Park is a park in Alberta, Canada that straddles the border between Northern Alberta and the southern Northwest Territories. The park was created in 1922 in order to protect the largest herd of Wood Bison in the world. The park is also home to the last known nesting site of whooping cranes.
#1 - They Have Not A Care In The World
What a life these two guys must lead. These two obviously have not a care in the world since they are kicking back and enjoying an ice cold beer in the middle of several feet of snow. I know alcohol is supposed to warm you up, but this looks a little over the top. They don’t even have shirts on.
