Space Crew Capsule Water Landing
This demo illustrates how to model multiphase flows along with six degree of freedom solver (6DOF) and the dynamic meshing in Ansys Fluent. A space crew capsule is selected for this demo.
Ansys Fluent 2020 R1 is used for this simulation. The underlying settings/physics are:
3D (600K elements for simulation)
Transient (average time step=0.1 ms)
Distributed Parallel Computing using the Ansys HPC
Volume of Fluid (air/water)
Dynamic Meshing (mesh deformation and smoothing, fully automatic but accepts user inputs)
6 Degree of Freedom Solver (6DOF)
Initial Velocity of the Capsule is 40 ft/s in +x and -y directions
