Mogok (Ruby Land) has never been on my bucket list. I arrived with no expectations but left absolutely blown away by this beautiful and amazing city in Myanmar.
Mogok has for the past 800 years been the premier source of fine rubies. 90% of a certain version of the world's rubies come from Myanmar (Burma). Gems are sold in markets in Mogok ; however ; foreigners require special permits to visit the town, and purchase of gems from Myanmar.
