That ORM is lying to you
“You need me!” shrieks the ORM (Object Relational Modeling). “I make your life easier, I make you more productive, I make things SIMPLER”, it enumerates. And you’ve been with a few ORMs already, each with their merits. You can’t imagine going back to the days of living without one. Dear web application developers, in the majority of cases that ORM is lying to you. Maybe it’s time for a little re-examination of the facts. How did we get here, and is an RDBMS still necessary? What alternative does NoSQL provide?
