An interesting situation arose at my next supervised facility. Namely: the repair guys, having started working with the guides and ceiling profiles delivered the day before, said that some of the profiles were too light and seemed to be thinner than at the previous facility, they should be checked. I took the profile in my hands, what we have, and we have a sticker indicating that the profile that I am holding in my hands is from Knauf, we also see markings that are also similar to the markings on Knauf profiles.
The manufacturer's official website indicates that the thickness of the metal used is 0.6 mm, for the PN profile. For the PP, purchased for the facility, manufactured for some reason almost a year ago, judging by the markings, the thickness is indicated as 0.6 mm. And I thought it would be nice to check whether this is really the case.
No sooner said than done. We take an electronic caliper, set it to "0" and check it at 5 mm KMD. The result, as you can see, is exactly 5 mm, which means that the measurements will be accurate. First, we measure PN 27x28, the measurements give a result of 0.66 mm and 0.67 mm. The data taken was surprising, because the metal is not only not thinner, but also thicker than stated by 10-12%.
Next, it was the turn of PP. The first size is 0.64 mm. I check according to KMD. Everything is normal. The second measurement showed the same size. And this means that the thickness is exceeded by 7%.
There is always a suspicion that the manufacturer indicates incorrect data, is this possible? Of course it is possible. But not in the case of Knauf profiles. The check showed not only compliance with the declared, but also an excess of the specified. I have to add that this video is not an advertisement at all, but rather a small test of reliability, because my customers should not have materials that do not meet the requirements.
