This video covers configuring a Victron MultiPlus 24V 3000W 70A inverter/charger using the MK3 USB interface dongle as part of our 24V lithium battery upgrade.
The MultiPlus can be configured using dip switches for basic setup, but proper lithium programming requires the MK3 USB interface connected directly to a computer. The VE.Smart dongle allows monitoring via Bluetooth, but it cannot configure or program the unit. It’s also important to disconnect the VE.Smart dongle when programming with the MK3 to avoid conflicting readings.
In this episode I walk through:
• General system settings (50Hz, current limits, UPS function off)
• Inverter configuration (230V system, ground relay)
• DC low-voltage shutdown and restart thresholds
• Charger configuration for Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries
• Absorption and float voltages (28.8V / 27.2V)
• 4-hour absorption time for a 400Ah 24V bank
• PowerAssist configuration
• AES mode considerations
Important notes:
– Firmware updates reset all settings to factory defaults
– Lithium charge terminology differs from traditional lead-acid systems
– Set DC thresholds slightly above BMS cut-off to avoid hard shutdown
