Time to revisit a much-missed Fly Site, now we have worked out how to circumvent National Trust's silly drone discrimination rules. This we do by launching and landing in a field next door that they don't control, and flying up the hill !
Several instances of manned aviation being FAR TOO LOW, but we only had to do avoidance measures with one of them, and clearance remained absolute. Sheep were universally unworried by drone proximity. Ramblers barely noticed I was there. NOTAMs were noted and flight delayed for Red Arrows Transit. Winds were high. Sun was hot.
New anti-bird reflective tape measures seemed to work, in that none of the 8 high-circling Red Kites felt the need to defend against my little guy.
And so we continue our series of South Downs Way flights. Next up should be Stoner Hill or Treyford Down, or the Vandalian tower just across the road from this one, which might be worth a look. If it isn't, neighbouring Uppark probably is !
