Why do immigrants keep arriving in Spain?
Welcome to Africa. There are four main routes immigrants take to reach Europe.
1st - Reach Turkey and then travel by sea to the Greek islands. This is no longer possible because Europe reached an agreement with Turkey to act as a buffer.
2nd - From the area of Somalia and Ethiopia, they traveled up to Libya and from Benghazi took a boat to cross the Mediterranean.
And also from Libya, in Tripoli, there was another departure point for boats to reach Italy. But Libya is cracking down on the immigrants arriving there, and the country is not safe. So the route was modified, and they went through Tunisia to cross the Mediterranean and reach, for example, the Italian island of Lampedusa.
In this way, more than 160,000 immigrants arrived in Italy last year. Since that was too many, Europe reached an agreement for Tunisia to stop the flow. And this country has dedicated itself to arresting, torturing, expelling, and even robbing immigrants to prevent them from appearing in its territory. This has worked, because the arrival of undocumented immigrants to Italy has decreased by 66%.
