Starting our adventure from Pasila station, we board night train 273 along with excited travelers, all ready to embark on this magical ride. The Santa Claus Express offers three seating options: open seating for budget-conscious travelers, cozy downstairs sleeper cabins for two, and luxurious upstairs sleeper cabins with a private toilet and shower. For this trip, we chose the upstairs sleeper cabin, giving us a first-class experience at around 250 euros for two people.
We’ll show you around our cabin, featuring a large window for breathtaking views, a convenient table, and footrests for easy access to the upper berth. There’s also a foldable seat to enjoy the scenery, a full-length mirror, temperature control, sockets, light switches, and even a foot lamp for a comfortable night’s sleep. Each bed is equipped with a pillow, blanket, towels, and a complimentary water bottle. With a side pocket for storage, adjustable reading lights, and more, every detail of the cabin is designed for comfort.
One of the highlights? The compact bathroom that seamlessly transforms from a toilet space to a shower! With a sensor-based washbasin, hand shower, and adjustable shower head, it’s a testament to smart design, providing everything you need in limited space.
As morning breaks, we wake up to spectacular views of Finland's serene winter landscape. Snowy forests, glistening lakes, and the soft morning light create a truly magical start to the day. If you’re craving breakfast, head to the restaurant carriage, where you can enjoy a warm meal or a drink in the bar area while watching the snowy scenery roll by.
Finally, after a memorable 12-hour journey, we arrive in Rovaniemi, ready to explore Santa’s hometown and all the wonders of Lapland. This journey is perfect for families, couples, and anyone seeking a unique way to experience Finland’s winter charm.
